Avocado and its nutritional importance

Previously we discussed the tomato and we listed some of its benefits to health such as its healthy skin effects, helps in strong bone development, its antioxidant properties which reduces the risk of cancer and a lot more. In this blog post, I'll be enumerating the amazing health benefits of the Avocado.

Avocado is simply one of the most delicious fruits on the planet. Most fruits are primarily known for their carbohydrate contents but the Avocado pear is popularly known for its healthy fat contents. Avocado is the fruit of the Avocado tree called Persea Americana. Avocado pear which is also known as Alligator pear because of its pear shaped nature and bumpy skin just like the alligator is incredibly nutritious  and is commonly used by people who are nutrient conscious because it has nutrients in abundance.Avocados come in different sizes and shapes. The most popular type is called Hass Avocado. The Avocado is very nutritious and contains more than 20 vitamins and minerals

POSSIBLE HEALTH BENEFITS OF AVOCADOS




Vision: Lutein and zeaxanthin which are two phytochemicals present in the tissues of the eyes are antioxidant in nature and provides protection  to the eyes against harmful exposure such as ultraviolet light.

Strong healthy bones:  The intake of Avocado provides the right amount of vitamn K required daily for the body. Just like calcium and Vitamin D, Vitamin K can also help strengthen the bones by increasing calcium absorption and decreasing the excretion of  calcium.

Cancer: Cancer is one of the most dreaded diseases . It has been proven that the intake of Avocado can help reduce the risk of cancer

Improved Digestion: Avocados are rich in fibers. The high fiber content helps to improve the digestion and decreases the chances of constipation despite its creamy nature. Regular intake of Avocado can help reduce the chances of colon cancer

Detoxofication: Studies show that the presence of fiber in Avocado enhances the movement of the bowels which is important for the excretion of toxins through stool or bile. Fiber also helps in regulating the immune system and inflammation.

Protection against diseases: Regular intake of fiber lowers the risk of diseases like heart problem , cancer , diabetes , inflammation, obesity, stroke, etc. Fibers also reduces the blood cholesterol levels,increases the sensitivity of the insulin and increases weight loss.


Incorporating Avocados in our diet

Avocados can be eaten in its raw , natural form after ripening.A ripe Avocado is usually soft and can be detected by pressing the fruit . Avocados can be eaten with bread in place of butter or can be added to our salad if it is not too soft.

For quicker ripening of the Avocado, place the fruit in a paper bag with Banana and tie the bag shut .to ensure it is airtight. After a few days, it will ripen.
